A Luxurious Escape: Our Anniversary Stay at Amarterra Villas Resort Bali Nusa Dua

For our five-year wedding anniversary and belated honeymoon, my husband and I wanted somewhere truly special—a place where we could unwind, immerse ourselves in culture, and create unforgettable memories. Amarterra Villas Resort Bali Nusa Dua exceeded every expectation, offering the perfect blend of luxury, romance, and Balinese hospitality.

First Impressions

Arriving from the airport, we were immediately captivated by the resort’s stunning architecture and lush tropical gardens. Never have I seen a more breathtaking hotel entrance! The check-in experience was equally magical, beginning with a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony, followed by a refreshing welcome drink—Jamu, a turmeric-based Indonesian elixir that we would come to love during our stay. This small but meaningful introduction set the tone for an unforgettable visit.

A Villa Fit for a Honeymoon

Our private villa was simply divine. With its own pool, hot tub, and an outdoor shower, it felt like our own secluded paradise. The staff went above and beyond to make our honeymoon extra special, surprising us with fresh fruit, cake, and sparkling water. They even filled the hot tub with flower petals and created a beautiful welcome arrangement on the bed. These thoughtful touches made us feel truly celebrated.

Ambience & Atmosphere

Peaceful, romantic, and utterly luxurious—Amarterra Villas provided the perfect escape from the outside world. Whether lounging by our private pool, enjoying an evening drink under the stars, or exploring the lush gardens, the atmosphere was always serene and enchanting.

Dining at Maja Restaurant

Food played a huge role in making our stay special. We enjoyed multiple meals at Maja Restaurant, where we indulged in the best of Indonesian cuisine. Some standout dishes included kare ayam (chicken curry) for breakfast, mie goreng for lunch, and their incredibly rich beef rendang for dinner. Their fresh fruit and juices were outstanding, and we made it a habit to start every morning with a glass of jamu while waiting for our breakfast. We didn’t try the Western options—why would we when Indonesia offers some of the best cuisine in the world?

Facilities & Activities

One of my favourite aspects of our stay was the hotel’s private beach club. It had incredibly clean and comfortable sunbeds, excellent service, and some of the best chilled young coconuts I’ve ever had. The gym was another highlight—clean, well-equipped, and perfect for a quick morning run before indulging in all the delicious food.

We also took part in a jamu-making class, which was one of many cultural activities offered by the resort. Learning how to make this traditional herbal drink deepened our appreciation for Indonesian culture and gave us a new favourite beverage to recreate at home.

A Special Photo Session with Dreams Studio Bali

One of the unexpected highlights of our stay was the complimentary 30-minute photo session offered by the hotel in collaboration with Dreams Studio Bali. Mardi and Rosida provided amazing service and captured beautiful pictures that perfectly commemorated our time in Bali. Mardi was excellent at guiding us through natural poses, making us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the session. While the photo session was originally scheduled for 30 minutes, Mardi generously extended it to nearly an hour. The hotel provides one finished photo free of charge, but guests can purchase additional images directly from Dreams Studio. We ended up selecting a package of 13 because we simply couldn’t choose just one! This was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary and honeymoon—it was our first professional photo shoot since our wedding day five years ago.

Exceptional Service & Hospitality

The service at Amarterra Villas was nothing short of outstanding. The Balinese people are some of the friendliest we’ve ever met, and the staff made us feel truly special from day one. They knew our names, took a genuine interest in us, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The nightly turndown service was a lovely touch that made our evenings even more special.

Location & Accessibility

While the resort isn’t directly on the waterfront, we found the location to be quite convenient. Nusa Dua has some of the best pedestrian paths in Bali, making it easy to explore on foot. The hotel also provided a reliable shuttle service to their beach club, which we happily used every day.

A Few Tips for Future Guests

If you’re considering a stay at Amarterra Villas, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  • Try to avoid visiting during the rainy season and Chinese New Year. While we were lucky with sunshine every day, this time of year is usually wetter.

  • The resort attracts many families during Chinese New Year. While this didn’t ruin our experience, we felt that the presence of young children running around took away slightly from the peaceful and romantic atmosphere. If you’re looking for a more tranquil escape, consider visiting at a quieter time.

Final Thoughts

Amarterra Villas Resort Bali Nusa Dua provided us with the perfect setting for our anniversary and belated honeymoon. From the luxurious villa to the exquisite dining and impeccable service, every detail was flawless. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’ll undoubtedly be returning in the future.

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in Bali, this resort is an absolute dream. We left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and completely in love with Balinese hospitality.
