The Ultimate 4-Days Spring Time Itinerary for Jeju-do

Jeju-do, often referred to as the “Hawaii of Korea,” is a volcanic island located off the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula. Famed for its stunning ocean views, lush landscapes, and unique geological formations, Jeju offers the perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventurers alike. In spring, the island bursts into life with vibrant cherry blossoms, making it one of the most picturesque times to visit. Whether you’re a beach lover, a hiker, or simply looking to soak up some culture, Jeju-do has something for everyone.

While renting a car makes it easy to get around the island, driving in Korea can be daunting for a foreign tourist. This 4-day itinerary will help you navigate the island using public transport and take you to some of the island’s top attractions, from the serene shores of Hyeopjae Beach to the volcanic wonder of Seongsan Ilchulbong, and much more. With a focus on convenience, natural beauty, and springtime blossoms, this journey promises an unforgettable experience of Jeju-do. For first time visitors to Korea, I recommend adding this itinerary to the end of either my Ultimate 1-Week South Korea Itinerary or Ultimate 2-Week South Korea Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation at Hyeopjae Beach

Start your Jeju adventure by arriving at Jeju International Airport, where you can catch a bus to your first destination: Hyeopjae Beach. Located on the island's western side, this beach is known for its crystal-clear waters, white sand, and the nearby Biyangdo Island looming on the horizon.

Once you’ve checked into your accommodation near Hyeopjae Beach, take a leisurely walk along the shore, feeling the gentle ocean breeze. If you're in the mood for exploration, head to Hallim Park, just a stone’s throw away, to discover botanical gardens, lava tubes, and traditional Korean folk villages. There are also a few coffee shops along the waterfront where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views.

How to get there: At Jeju International Airport, head to the bus stop outside the terminal and take bus number 102 (모슬포남항여객선터미널) Moseulpo South Port Ferry Terminal to Hallim Bus Transfer Station (Hallim-ri) (53 minutes) and transfer to bus number 784-1 (동광육거리) Donggwang Yukgeori. Get off at Hyeopjae Beach (8 minutes).

Alternatively, get a bus (number 800) or taxi to Jeju Bus Terminal and transfer to bus number 202 (서귀포버스터미널) Seogwipo Bus Terminal. Get off at Hyeopjae Beach (1 hour 19 minutes).

Where to stay: A cosy guesthouse with an ocean view by Hyeopjae Beach or, for more comfort, Aguila Hotel Jeju Oceano Suite.

Day 2: Journey to Seogwipo, Waterfalls, and Cherry Blossoms

After a peaceful morning stroll at Hyeopjae Beach, hop on the bus heading south to Seogwipo, where you’ll spend the next two nights. You can travel there directly on bus number 202 (서귀포버스터미널) Seogwipo Bus Terminal. Get off at New Town. It is a long journey (2 hours and 21 minutes), but offers beautiful views along the way.

Once you arrive in Seogwipo, drop off your bags at Hotel Bareve, grab some lunch, and continue your adventure with a visit to Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the few waterfalls in Asia that plunges directly into the ocean.

Next, head on over to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, set in a lush forested area. If you’re visiting during cherry blossom season, you’ll be greeted by delicate pink flowers framing the scenery, creating an idyllic backdrop for photos.

If you feel like doing more exploration, check out the nearby Oedolgae rock formation, a towering volcanic sea stack that stands dramatically along the coast. The walking paths around Oedolgae offer breathtaking ocean views, perfect for capturing the essence of Jeju’s natural beauty.

In the evening, try some local delicacies for dinner and unwind at your hotel. Check out the on-site sauna for extra relaxation.

Where to stay: Hotel Bareve. Seogwipo Intercity Bus Terminal is just a 7-minute walk from the hotel, making it easy to explore the area and the rest of the island. The hotel further features an on-site sauna and has a great breakfast buffet.

Restaurant recommendations in Seogwipo:

Day 3: Seongsan Ilchulbong and Udo Island Day Trip

On day three, set off early for a day trip to one of Jeju’s most iconic sights: Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak in English. Take bus number 201 (제주버스터미널(종점)) Jeju Bus Terminal from Daeryun-dong Community Service Center and get off at Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone Entrance. Witness the breathtaking volcanic crater that rises dramatically from the sea and make the short hike to the top, which will reward you with panoramic views of the island and the surrounding ocean.

Next, hop on a ferry to Udo Island, just a short distance from Seongsan Ilchulbong. Known for its peaceful landscapes, black lava cliffs, and white coral beaches, Udo Island is a haven for nature lovers. You can explore the island by rental bikes. The island’s beauty is particularly enchanting in spring, with blooming wildflowers and stunning ocean views at every turn.

After a full day of exploration, return to Seogwipo for a relaxing evening. Make sure to take advantage of the hotel’s on-site sauna one last time.

Day 4: Departure from Jeju – Final Farewells

There are several buses you can catch back to the airport from your hotel. From Seogwipo Post Office/Seogwipo City Hall 2, you can catch bus number 800 (혁신도시) or 801 (제주버스터미널(종점)) Jeju Bus Terminal (End Point), which takes about 1 hour and 2 minutes, or you can catch bus number 600 (제주국제공항(하차전용)) Jeju International Airport (Drop-off Only) from Jeju World Cup Stadium (No. 600), taking 1 hour and 31 minutes.

If you’ve got some time before your flight, you can make a stop on the way at Jungmun Tourist Complex to visit Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls, Yeomiji Botanic Garden, and Jungmun Saekdal Beach.

Final Thoughts

Jeju-do is a destination that will leave you breathless with its natural beauty, especially during the springtime when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. From the tranquil beaches of Hyeopjae to the rugged cliffs of Udo Island, and the cascading waterfalls of Seogwipo, the island offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and culture. Travelling by public transport not only makes this itinerary accessible but also allows you to fully immerse yourself in the local rhythm of the island. Whether you're seeking serenity or exploration, Jeju-do is a springtime paradise that promises to captivate your heart.
